In 2020 I bought a gaming laptop to use for streaming. For four years it has served me well. Last week, however, OBS started to malfunction and dropped the stream unexpectedly during the GCSE session. Last night, it refused to start up.
I had to restart my computer multiple times, was forced to download and install updated drivers for all of my peripherals and for the GPU, and in the end I managed to get it to limp into action at 6:20pm, 20 minutes late for the session!
To make up for the missing time, I’m running a session this evening for GCSE students from 6pm to 6:40pm You’ll be able to find the stream in the usual place. I’m going to spend an hour before hand testing, checking and double checking things. If the worst happens, I’ll use the HDMI output from my Chromebook into a video capture card and into YouTube as a webcam source. There’s always a plan B.
I fear my laptop may be demanding a full factory reset. I’ve got it set up how I like it, so I really hope it doesn’t come to that.
I am sorry for the streaming issues for the last two weeks. I’ll get to the bottom of this, and it’ll be business as usual. See you tonight (if you’re an enrolled GCSE student)!
