End of the academic year, at last!

We’ve made it! Today (at my school) is the last day of the 2024-2025 academic year. Some schools have already broken up, some may be continuing for a few days yet. If you’ve been wondering why I’ve not posted so many blog posts recently, it is because this has been an exceptionally tough term. A colleague of mine resigned during the year, so I had to take on two additional classes, along with all the marking and report writing that comes with that. I’ve been rushed off my feet. Please accept my apologies if you emailed me and I have not yet replied. Give me a few days to recover from this term, then I’ll reply. (And if I don’t, please do send me a follow up reminder!)

If you’ve just finished GCSE Physics and looking ahead to A-Level Physics, here are a couple of playlists you may find helpful. The first playlist includes the skills I think all A-Level physics students aught to have before they start:

The second is an introduction to calculus, but not necessarily in the way it is taught by mathematicians in the mathematics department. I am not suggesting that I teach calculus better than mathematicians or mathematics teachers do – absolutely not! However, I did not really understand calculus until it was taught to me by physicists at university, so maybe some students may benefit from my bumbling approach to calculus:

If you’ve finished GCSE Astronomy or Physics and are not going on to study A-Level Physics, or if you have finished your A-Level Physics, please don’t forget to remove your WordPress Subscription (instructions are here). Also, please consider writing a review for me on Trustpilot.

If next year you’re going to study physics GCSE Astronomy and/or Physics, or A-Level Physics, then please make sure you are enrolled so you can participate in the tuition sessions. They start on Saturday 13 September 2025. Check the calendar on the home page for details.

Well done for getting through the academic year. Have a restful summer break, and I’ll see you in September!
