End of year exam marking season

I’ve not posted for a while. It is end-of-year exam marking season. That means I’ve got my head down and I’m spending all my non-teaching time marking students’ exam papers. While I’m busy marking, I’m also looking ahead to the upcoming academic year and planning our physics tuition enrolment process for new and returning students.

With marking, I do enjoy it when I see students writing excellent physics answers (a GCSE student used calculus to solve a simple mechanics problem, very nicely done). Plus I always learn something valuable from the students who make mistakes. Each year, my teaching is adjusted by what I learn from marking.

The end of exams… for now

All GCSE Physics, GCSE Astronomy, and A-Level Physics exams are now over. Year 13 students are flying the nest, and Year 11 students are having to decide whether to continue studying physics at A-Level.

If you are a Year 13 student and you feel I’ve helped you, please do leave a review. (Anyone can leave me a review, of course. You don’t have to wait until you have finished Year 13). Reviews help me because when a parent is trying to decide if Physics With Keith is right for them, that’s one of the first things they check.

Looking forward

The year is not over. Year 10 and Year 12 students are still attending the weekly tuition sessions.

I will be uploading to the calendar the dates, times and topics for the 2026-2027 academic year soon.

I do not run the regular weekly tuition sessions during school holidays, but students can still access the recordings and other resources via their dashboards. They can use the videos, worksheets and question generators for their revision during the Summer holiday.

Remember that Participation Leaderboard? Visiting the dashboard once per week and using the resources will still earn points over the summer! After I have finished this mound of marking, I will add some more Achievements too, including some hidden secret Achievements. The gamification of physics and astronomy education is just getting started.

Physics tuition enrolment and limited spaces for Autumn 2026

In order to continue being able to offer the real time feedback to students via the interactive whiteboard, I am limiting the number of participants to ten for each session. I can watch ten students’ work in real time, but more than that gets tricky. If you want to be a participant during the sessions, then you will have to join the Participant Tier on physics tuition enrolment.

I anticipate far more students will want to participate than I have space for, so I’ve made a waiting list. Click here to add your name to the waiting list. People on the waiting list will get the enrolment link two days before it goes public, and will get notified first if a space opens up in the future.

I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how many people are on the waiting list already!

If you are not quick enough to get a Participant place, the Viewer Tier will still allow students to watch the sessions live, but they won’t have access to the live chat or the interactive whiteboard.

More learning happens when your misconceptions and mistakes are directly addressed with personalised feedback, so it is definitely better to be a Participant if you can.

The move to the new login system

WordPress.com’s login system was a good starting point in the early days of Physics With Keith, but it had some drawbacks. As Physics With Keith has grown in popularity, the drawbacks have become more pronounced. I decided a few months ago to migrate over to a new login system.

I had been running the login systems in parallel for a few months, but yesterday I finished migrating all of the legacy login accounts over to the new system. At the end of July I will cancel all of the legacy account monthly payments, and I have set the migrated monthly payment legacy accounts to expire at the end of August. Yearly payment legacy accounts have already received an email from me with information and instructions.

Students who want to continue to access tuition in September 2026 will need to enrol in September. The process is now much more straightforward. If there are any issues at all, please do let me know.
